Founding Software Engineer (San Diego – Hybrid, 3 Days/Week)

Job Type: Full-Time | Entry to Mid-Level | US Work Authorization Required
Location: Vista/Oceanside, CA (3 days on-site) + Remote flexibility
Compensation: $80,000 base + equity + benefits

🚀 About the Role

You’ll be a founding engineer responsible for building core features of our web app from the ground up. You'll work across the stack, from shipping elegant frontend interfaces to integrating cutting-edge AI models and graph databases. And from day one, you'll have ownership.

 

✨ What You’ll Work On

  • Build beautiful, responsive UIs using React + TypeScript
  • Develop scalable backend APIs using Node.js and microservices
  • Integrate with OpenAI, LangChain, and intelligent agent frameworks
  • Model and manage relationship data across MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Neo4j
  • Use Cursor (AI-powered code assistant) to accelerate development
  • Deploy with Docker on AWS/GCP, set up CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate directly with our founder on product strategy

 

🛠️ Skills You’ll Need (and Build On)

Must-Have Skills
✅ React & JavaScript/TypeScript
✅ Node.js + REST API development
✅ Basic database design & querying
✅ Curiosity and speed using AI tools (e.g., Cursor, OpenAI)
✅ Strong problem-solving & communication skills
✅ Comfortable learning on the fly in a startup environment

Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)
➕ Experience with Neo4j or graph DBs
➕ Familiarity with GenAI, LangChain, or AI agents
➕ Exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP)
➕ Master's degree in CS or technical equivalent
➕ Startup or side-project experience
