(742) Customer Service Representative
The customer service representative (CSR) provides administrative support and assistance to integrated behavioral health, medical, and dental clinics and works in collaboration with clerical support staff for the Federally Qualified Health Center of South-Central Texas.
The CSR provides clerical support and assistance with special projects as assigned by the Center Director or Office Manager to include receptionist duties, data entry, running electronic health record reports, copying and collation materials, typing, mailing correspondence, maintaining office equipment and vehicles, maintaining preassembled staffing packets, ordering supplies, filing clinical records and purchase requisitions as requested.
The CSR assists persons in services by scheduling appointments and providing quality customer service to direct person and appropriate staff members and meets with individuals in services to perform initial and annual financial review/addendum, update demographic information in the electronic chart, and scanning documents and other information into the individual's electronic chart. The CSR gathers necessary documentation, provides insurance verification for scheduled clinic appointments, determines and notates expected individual responsibility for scheduled visit based on insurance and financial ability to pay. The CSR assists with obtaining authorization from insurance companies for required services and provides responses to account for specific concerns from individuals about balances. The CSR follows up on past due balances and develops an agreement to pay according to center policy. The CSR identifies and schedules individuals with Benefits Specialists.
The CSR also works with a team of business support staff to ensure an effective and efficient work environment.
Location: Gonzales, TX (may support Caldwell and Guadalupe Counties as well)
Hourly Salary Range: $17.30 - $22.05
Differential Amount:
- .75/hour - Bilingual
- 1.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS
- 1.00/hour -Career ladder specialty
- Up to $2.00/hour – previous experience with a community center in a similar

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. Experience working with persons with disabilities. Strong computer and communication skills. Experience in a medical office setting. Demonstration of successful work experience regarding regular and timely attendance.

Preferred AND required education, experience, job knowledge, skills and abilities helpful in the performance of this position, as indicated below:
Some college (1-2 years) or associate’s degree. Experience of having financial discussions with clients regarding treatment costs. Bilingual.
