Social Media Intern - Festival & Events
OVERVIEW
The Social Media Intern operates under the direction of the Digital Media Manager. As a Social Media Intern at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, you will assist in content creation across all social platforms and help manage community engagement, including responding to comments, direct messages, and questions. This role offers valuable experience in real-time brand communication, strategy, and audience engagement, working alongside industry professionals during one of the largest rodeos in the country.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, are not limited to the following:
- Assist in planning, writing, and scheduling posts across social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, etc.)
- Help capture content in real time during events and activations
- Monitor and respond to direct messages, comments, and incoming questions across platforms
- Work with the marketing and creative teams to align messaging with campaign goals
- Assist in developing creative ideas for social media posts, campaigns, and reels/stories
- Track performance metrics and assist in weekly reporting
- Organize and manage digital content libraries
- Additional tasks as assigned
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Familiarity with major social platforms and content trends (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Creative thinker with an eye for detail and a strong visual sense
- Ability to adapt brand voice and tone for different platforms
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience with social media scheduling tools is a plus (e.g., Agorapulse, Meta Business Suite)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Relevant Coursework: Pursuing or having completed coursework in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field
- Degree: In pursuit of or a degree in a relevant field is preferred
- Portfolio: Examples of previous social media work or content ideas (can include classwork, personal projects, or brand work)
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with photo/video editing apps (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express) is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- During the 2026 Show from February 12 – March 1, 2026, you will be required to work daily, including all weekends as well as evenings and nights until the show concludes
- From October to the start of the show, you will be expected in office 3–4 days a week; schedule to be determined upon hiring
- Will be exposed to animals, dust, and outdoor weather conditions
- Large amounts of walking and standing for extended periods may be required
SCHEDULE
- January 7 – March 13
- 3–4 days a week or hours mutually agreed upon
- Required to work during the entirety of the Rodeo
