Annual Fund and Stewardship Manager

  1. Position Summary

In partnership with the Chief Development Officer, the Annual Fund and Stewardship Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and success of all aspects of the Annual Fund, which provides critical annual operating support for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger. Annual Fund is the broad term for general nonprofit fundraising. It encompasses all fundraising efforts including online solicitation, direct mail asks, email appeals, third-party and cause marketing campaigns. It does not include money raised during capital campaigns or for endowment funds. The Annual Fund and Stewardship Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Food Bank’s direct response annual giving programs, including direct mail and online campaigns to acquire, cultivate, renew and upgrade donor support. This position supports the development of an individual giving program for donors making annual gifts below $5,000 and will drive strategy for encouraging annual donors into higher levels of giving. This position, working with the Development Division, analyzes, plans, and executes strategies for attracting and retaining donors at all levels. This includes overseeing the use of all communications such as letters, calls, and encouraging donors to increase their engagement. This position also oversees third-party fundraisers to include analysis of process improvement. This position focuses on developing monthly donations which makes it possible to continually support general operations. This includes fundraising strategies that will get our community excited about giving. Stewardship strategies should drive increased retention as well as engaging donors who can give at a higher level. El Pasoans Fighting Hunger utilizes Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, a contact management system. This will be an important tool in managing this position’s portfolio of donors as well as the stewardship process in general.

  1. Essential Job Functions

1. Leads strategy of the fundraising efforts of the Annual Fund team, in support of the overall Development Division’s objective to increase annual operating revenue while reducing cost per dollar raised.

2. Responsible for developing and overseeing the workplan to support donations below $5,000, growing the number of donors in this category, working within the Food Bank’s organization wide work plan, setting strategy and schedules, managing deadlines, tracking expenses      and meeting revenue and retention goals.

3. Leads all in-house efforts to identify and engage new constituencies, renew existing and reactivate lapsed supporters to the Food Bank.

4. Delivers successful, on message, coordinated campaigns for renewing donors.

5. Broadens donor acquisition strategies across digital and offline channels including direct mail in collaboration with the Development Division and the Communications & Marketing team.

6. Drives Annual Fund renewal & acquisition campaigns to grow the donor base, improve donor relationships, and retain donors.

7. Partners with Development Division to ensure successful segmentation, tracking, reporting and analysis of campaigns and appeals.

8. Manages donor surveys and other research activities to ensure that all Annual Fund messaging reflects the interests and concerns of our constituents.

9. Handles one-on-one donor stewardship and support as needed including thank you notes, “in honor of” acknowledgements and making updates to donation amounts or donor profile information.

10. Manages the JustGiving software within Raiser’s Edge to conduct third party fundraisers.

11. Works with all divisions of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger to identify compelling stories, projects, and programs to showcase in fundraising activities. Actively works to integrate the Annual Fund program with other fundraising and communications activities.

12. This role involves generating reports and overseeing the stewardship process to include all donor acknowledgement letters and communications and coordination with external outside printing services and vendors.

13. Ensure team has the necessary resources to succeed by tracking and preparing supply purchase orders, processing vendors payments and assembling customized VIP folders and videos customized for donor visits.

14. Supports other development team projects, activities and events as assigned.

15. Collaborate with other team members on special donor events including, but not limited to, major donor events, special marketing events, check presentations and other donor-specific events such as the Open House.

16. Represents El Pasoans Fighting Hunger by giving public tours of the food bank and attending public events and fundraisers as needed.

17. Works with Data Clerk to review/approve donation entries, online donations and prepare the monthly reconciliation/closing document.

18. Other duties as assigned.

   IV. Minimum Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • • A minimum of five years’ experience in fund development for a nonprofit organization or university.
  • • A successful track record of identification, cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of in-kind gifts and donations.
  • • Outstanding written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • • Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • • Experience managing and analyzing donor data to improve fundraising outcomes.
  • • Full computer proficiency with standard Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • • Proficiency with CRM, fundraising and communications software.
  • • Passion for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger’s mission.
  • • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

  V. Preferred Qualifications

  • • Previous experience in a leadership position at a nonprofit organization
  • • Raiser’s Edge experience
  • • Master’s Degree preferred
  • • Bilingual English/Spanish
