Venture Capital Intern

Internship description (UNM Student's Only)

We are looking to bring on an intern for Spring 2026 via UNM's Facilitated Internship Program. You will have the opportunity to learn about venture capital and gain on-the-job training while assisting Tramway Ventures. You will work on due diligence and market landscaping within the innovative life science and healthcare technology industry, and gain valuable experience and connections within the startup and investor ecosystem.

Intern job responsibilities

  • Support various pieces of the venture capital investment cycle including deal sourcing and due diligence
  • Analyze technology trends and perform sector deep dives to inform investment decisions
  • Engage with startup founders and drive opportunities forward within the Tramway framework
  • Drive due diligence efforts, contribute to investment memos, and support transaction processes
  • Get involved in marketing initiatives and assist in organizing events to promote our brand and expand our network

 

Application process and timeline

  • Nov 25 – Jan 12: Applicants may submit their resume, cover letter, and transcript to UNM via Handshake
  • Jan 1 – Jan 14: Chosen candidates will be scheduled for a 1-hour interview (virtual or in-person @ main campus) with internship mentor. Interview questions will be sent the day before
  • Jan 1 – Jan 14: Chosen candidates will be scheduled for a second 1-hour interview (virtual or in-person at the Bioscience Center) with the Managing Partner. 
  • Jan 16: Job offer, NDA, and onboarding materials sent out
  • Jan 19 – May 16: Internship period

 

Work Hours and Benefits

  • 10 hours / week: Fully remote work with optional in-person meetings
  • Flexible weekly office hours with intern mentor
  • 1:1 chats with firm managing partners, advisors, and portfolio CEOs
  • Semester stipend (TBD)

 

Intern qualifications / skills 

  • Relevant experience in venture capital, banking, consulting, or tech startups is beneficial, but not mandatory. Drive and a demonstrable passion for technology & entrepreneurship are valued more highly
  • Strong analytical abilities and an interest in emerging technologies
  • Self-starter with a track record of working independently and driving results
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build trust and rapport with entrepreneurs and team members
  • You have a passion for entrepreneurship and believe the world needs more difference-makers and innovators
  • You are a fast learner, team player with a can-do attitude: quick changes, tight deadlines, and ambiguity don’t scare you
  • You are extremely proactive and always up for a new challenge
  • You love championing new initiatives and have great people & communication skills
  • You have some knowledge or interest in the newest trends within technology and how they can be used in various industries
  • You dive deep into making sense out of diverse data-sets and gather actionable insights out of it
