Lead Dispatcher – Last Mile Delivery
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and people-focused Lead Dispatcher tooversee daily delivery and warehouse flow for oversized and large-item last mile operations across the U.S. region. This role combines dispatching, warehouse supervision, and team management, with a clear growth path into regional operational leadership. The ideal candidate is confident in directing teams, enforcing standards, andoptimizing complex last-mile processes.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch & Route Operations
Create, assign, and optimize delivery routes using routing logic, volume patterns, and manual overrides when necessary.
Monitor live routes, manage delivery exceptions, and maintain real-time communication with drivers.
Review route efficiency daily and adjust assignments to improve on-time performance and reduce cost.
Warehouse & Floor Supervision
Oversee daily warehouse flow, including inbound A-scan, outbound loading, staging, and package sorting accuracy.
Direct and supervise warehouse associates during loading and unloading toensure proper palletization, load plans, and handling of oversized items.
Coordinate smooth hand-offs between warehouse, pickup, and delivery teams.
Enforce warehouse safety protocols, lifting techniques, and equipment use.
Identify bottlenecks on the warehouse floor and implement improvements to increase throughput and avoid delays.
Team Leadership & Driver Management
Manage driver schedules, approve shift coverage, and ensure staffing readiness for high-volume days.
Conduct driver coaching on app usage, routing expectations, Proof of Delivery(POD) procedures, and customer service standards.
Provide performance feedback to drivers and warehouse staff; reinforce SOPcompliance and accountability.
Hire, train, and mentor dispatchers, driver leads, and warehouse coordinators.
Build a positive, disciplined, and safety-focused operational culture.
Operational Improvement & Incident Management
Analyze daily/weekly KPIs and use data to refine staffing, routing, zone plans, and warehouse workflows.
Lead initial response for lost/damaged items, delivery failures, and customer escalations.
Partner with HQ on dashboard reporting, technology updates, and regional expansion opportunities.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or warehouse operations (oversized/large-item preferred).
Hands-on experience supervising warehouse staff or leading a delivery/operations team strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of routing or last-mile delivery software.
Excellent communication and team management skills across drivers, warehouseteams, and management.
Ability to analyze performance metrics and make operational decisions in real time.
Strong problem-solving skills under time pressure.
Experience in oversized freight handling a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
