Position Overview
We are seeking a talented 2024 - 2026 graduate to join Farallon as a Performance and Analytics Reporting Analyst at the firm’s headquarters in San Francisco.
The Reporting Analyst will be part of the Performance and Analytics Reporting Group (PARG). As part of ongoing digital transformation efforts, the Reporting Analyst will streamline the delivery and access to Firm investments and Fund Performance and Analytics. The successful candidate will seek constant feedback from the internal stakeholders, particularly senior leadership and adopt best industry practices in developing reporting metrics. The deliverables produced by the Reporting Analyst will drive crucial business decisions and aid in managing the Firm’s assets.
Reporting to Head of PARG (which reports into the CFO), the successful candidate will serve in a strategic hybrid role that works alongside the firm’s investment professionals, fund accounting team and its investor relations professionals. The team has a culture of open communication that is integral to the successful operation of Farallon. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, comfortable working independently and in collaboration with teammates. They will be comfortable with the responsibility of all facets of the reporting analyst function.
Responsibilities:
- Play a hands-on role in building, developing, and maintaining reliable data pipelines for the PARG team using SQL and Python.
- Ensure accuracy, scalability, and performance of the data stack in partnership with engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain recurring reports and dynamic performance analytics—including Returns (Gross Returns, RoA), TWR, IRR, investment multiples, and attribution decomposition (e.g., Brinson)—for both hedge fund and private equity portfolios.
- Provide additional insights and analytics to support executive decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Manage cross-functional relationships with Investor Relations, Fund Accounting, Risk, Legal, Software, and the Digital transformation Office (DTO) to ensure accurate data and timely deliverables.
- Document requirements, logic, and methodologies for assigned pipelines, and collaborate with Software, DTO, and internal teams to translate them into functional, executable solutions.
- Design and deliver dashboards, reports, and self-service tools that enable the business to support critical initiatives—including fundraising materials, Investor Day, and analyst calls—while reducing reliance on the investment team.
- Partner with key stakeholders to provide input on the Geneva data model (experience a plus) and collaborate with Risk, Operations, and Software to strengthen data governance and management practices.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, as well as ad hoc business requests. Work with the team to deliver reporting quickly and efficiently by troubleshooting underlying data stack inputs and dashboards for data quality issues.
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. degree in computer science or other quantitative discipline from a top accredited university or college
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience developing data pipelines and analytical models.
- Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly, Streamlit, Dash) and strong data visualization skills.
• Exposure to AI/ML or Generative AI technologies, with interest in experimentation and prototyping. - Desire to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with strong multi-tasking abilities.
