Summer Internship - Finance Data Analyst Intern

Debt levels for all people are growing rapidly and reaching unsustainable levels in a post-Covid world, fueled by rapid inflation and rising interest rates. Because of this, we are growing quickly, bringing on new industry partners and growing our existing base incredibly fast. We are seeking a smart, motivated, and growth-minded intern to join our dynamic team. Role: We are seeking a technically strong finance & data analyst intern to assist the CFO and Controller in ensuring that the reporting, analysis, and risk assessment supports rapid expansion of the business.

 

As a Finance & Data Analyst Intern, you will:

  • Assist in managing reporting on performance and risk criteria of key industry partners.
  • Participate in daily fee reconciliations, as well as weekly/monthly borrowing base preparations with our lenders and covenant calculations.
  • Interact with industry partners and investors under supervision.
  • Engage in other detailed financial analysis and special-project-based analysis as needed.

 

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of fees received.
  • Help update and maintain key files for Senior Lenders and Borrowing Base.
  • Support financial analysis around strategic and competitive questions (existing business and new verticals).
  • Contribute to performance and risk analysis on key industry partnerships / underlying portfolio monitoring analysis.
  • Assist CFO and Controller in forecasting the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
  • Collaborate to improve financial, KPI, and dashboard reporting across the business.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to influence decisions from a financial standpoint.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and reporting.

 

Skills required:

  • Current undergraduate student at a 4-year university
    • Business, finance, or accounting-related major, a plus
  • Previous experience in finance, investment banking, consulting, public accounting or other technical fields, a plus
  • Extremely strong skillset in Microsoft Excel; comfortable with complex modeling scenarios
  • Previous experience with business intelligence software such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc, a plus
  • Good working knowledge and experience with web-based accounting systems (Quickbooks, other), a plus
  • Previous experience with SQL or other programming languages, a plus
  • Confident communicator able to tackle problems logically and efficiently, achieve buy-in from senior stakeholders
  • Ability to interact with senior stakeholders, building strong working relationships
