Access Assistant
The Access Assistant (AA) plays a critical role in PCA’s coverage of government meetings by managing the set-up, recording, and delivery of each meeting broadcast. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in video production and/or in audiovisual (AV) systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key:
- Manage the broadcast of government meetings at the City of Petaluma, City of Sebastopol, and City of Rohnert Park.
- Maintain a working understanding of broadcast and AV equipment used at each city location.
- Operate broadcast equipment during meetings.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in real time and communicate issues to Operations Supervisor and city staff.
- Prepare completed recordings of government meetings for Broadcast on Comcast Ch. 28
Occasional:
- Work late night hours, including after midnight.
- Create simple graphics using Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
- Perform basic video edits using DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Available during the evenings Monday - Thursday, especially Tuesday evenings.
- Strong reliability and punctuality.
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to accommodate variable schedules and meeting lengths.
- Comfort working in live production environments.
Preferred:
- Interest in video production, TV broadcast, or AV systems.
No prior experience with AV equipment or photo/video editing is required. Training will be provided.
