Birth Tissue Procurement Specialist (per diem)
This is a per diem position that pays $125 per case ( cases per shift vary) and we require 2-3 days of on call availability
This position will work in the OR during C-Section deliveries and transport the donated placenta to the NDN office to be packaged and shipped out for processing into skin graphs.
Daily duties:
Reviews and documents referral information in database(s).
Obtains informed consent for birth tissue donation from expectant mothers by providing information on the benefits of donation and completes all documentation according to established protocols.
Conducts Donor Risk Assessment Interview (medical and social behavior interview) with expectant mothers according to established organizational protocols.
Aseptically acquires donated birth tissues according to established protocol, processor requirements, and regulatory standards.
Applies Universal Precautions and appropriate safety precautions at all times.
Completes all required acquisition documentation and in a timely manner according to protocol.
Maintains confidentiality of patient/donor private health information.
Interacts courteously and effectively with both internal and external clients.
Attends or completes all training sessions /QMS task acknowledgements within the following period of availability/on-call.
Follows policies and procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Required to have a personal cell phone and arrive to all scheduled c-sections, birth tissue referrals, or birth tissue acquisitions at the time assigned or within 1 hour of notification.
Performs other duties as requested by Manager of birth Tissue Services and Director of Tissue Operations.
Education: Healthcare/medical training or certificate (preferred); relevant work experience may be substituted for academic requirements
Experience: Six months to one year healthcare related experience (preferred)
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, knowledge of MS office programs. Proficient use of a Computer, Photocopier, and telephone.
Certificates & Licenses: RN, Paramedic/EMT, CST licenses considered. Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license.
Other Requirements: Knowledge of basic aseptic technique, universal precautions, medical terminology preferred. Required to have a personal cell phone. Travel by personal or company auto is required to meet all the duties and responsibilities of the position.
