Operations Coordinator
Summary Measures and analyzes all production lines for safety, efficiency, and product loss prevention. Participates in Continuous Improvement process and drives Corrective Actions to energize performance. Creates and teaches plant-wide 5S program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops and implements 5S philosophy throughout the entire plant.
- Creates meaningful Corrective Actions designed to drive performance improvement.
- Measures each unit of operation for throughput capacity and creates a chokepoint analysis and time studies. Validates Theoretical Maximum throughputs and crew size standards.
- Becomes the subject matter expert for continuous improvement and Six Sigma methods.
- Works with Production Supervisors to evaluate lines to drive improvement.
- Learns Process Monitor concept and assists in developing new automation of line measurement system.
- Participates in Daily Performance Meeting initiatives to increase throughput and product yields using LEAN, Six Sigma, and the Continuous Improvement philosophy.
- Works closely with the plant management to create capital expenditure plans.
- Evaluates equipment with Maintenance team. Recommends preventative maintenance procedures designed to improve mechanical uptime.
- Completes status updates, such as production progress reports and Corrective Actions logs.
- Meets weekly with Director of Operations to review progress reports.
- Performs other duties, as needed.

Education and/or Experience
2nd or 3rd year Engineering students interested in fast paced food manufacturing environment.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Microsoft Office software. CAD would be a plus.

Must have excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.
Other Qualifications
The Intern must have knowledge of, or be willing to learn our raw protein requirements, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
