Agricultural Loan Specialist

This position is located in Las Cruces, NM as part of the New Mexico State FSA Office in Dona Ana County.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an Agricultural Loan Specialist, you'll work closely with Farm Loan Managers in administering farm loan programs within your assigned counties. Following successful completion of the Farm Loan Training Program, your duties will include:
- Conducting interviews with loan applicants, reviewing loan applications, and making preliminary inquiries to develop factual information that will help assess applicant eligibility.
- Providing technical advice, guidance, and credit counseling to loan applicants and borrowers.
- Developing knowledge of agency farm loan programs and eligibility requirements to apply that knowledge in applicant assessment.
- Applying technical knowledge of farm financing and credit, financial management concepts and practices, farm operations, land use and value, production and marketing of various crops and livestock, and prices and markets within local serviced farming areas.
This position is designed to work in a developmental capacity, where the incumbents will receive on-the-job and classroom training in the administration of farm loan programs. Upon completion of the training program, loan specialists may be reassigned to a different duty station to meet agency mission operation needs.
