Data Center Operations Facilitated Internship

Internship Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Information Technology intern to join our Business Technology Department and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will play a role in developing, implementing, and enforcing standards.  As a data center operations intern, you will collaborate with our IT departments across the enterprise to ensure that the IT equipment within the IT spaces are being installed correctly while complying and enforcing standards. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand, and maintain enterprise-wide standards. This internship will help you acquire IT skills and provide you with knowledge of various data center and networking strategies. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in IT and should be prepared to enter the IT field.


Intern Job Responsibilities:

 
·      Install server room equipment at the critical IT/OT sites that the data center operations team is responsible for while following best practices, standards, and change procedures.
·      Provide our offshore infrastructure contractors with hands and feet support in the IT locations as needed including console access, server room equipment installations, and troubleshooting.
·      Reclaim cabling as old equipment gets decommissioned and prepare retired media for proper destruction.
·      Follow safety protocols, best practices, and company standards to maximize uptime.
·      Share 24x7x365 on-call responsibilities related to monitoring the critical IT locations for power and cooling related incidents.
·      Label server room infrastructure equipment and copper/fiber cabling to ensure maximum uptime and accurate inventory of all critical assets.
·      Play a major role in all IT related builds across the enterprise to ensure that company standards are being implemented and expectations are being met as new IT spaces are being built.


Work Hours & Benefits

 
Flexible hours are available within the work week of Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Internship opportunities are available throughout the summer and fall semesters. You will be working primarily with an assigned Mentor and will benefit from a 1:1 mentor to mentee/intern ratio.

Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:

 
·      Education and Experience – The intern should be a current college student or hold an IT certification.
·      Must sign a Non –Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
·      Must have a Background Check
·      Must have a Drug and Alcohol test
