Public Affairs / Governmental Affairs Facilitated Internship

Internship Description


We are looking for an enthusiastic business or marketing intern to join our Public Affairs / Governmental Affairs department and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will have administrative duties in developing and engagements, events, proactive outreach opportunities. As a Public Affairs intern, you will collaborate with our community outreach and engagement team. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand, and maintain and augment our stakeholder outreach. This internship will help you acquire marketing, communication, and administrative skills and provide you with knowledge of public affairs activities in the utility industry. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in public affairs, including corporate, and foundation giving to inform your career options as you enter the corporate, nonprofit, and/or entrepreneurial work environment.

Intern Job Responsibilities (examples):


  • Organizing and updating stakeholder lists
  • Creating content for social and external media consumption
  • Pitching ideas for internal and external engagement 
  • Developing tools and methods for collecting data such as surveys, opinion polls or questionnaires
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify consumer trends
  • Researching consumer opinions and marketing strategies and proposing adjustments to current strategies accordingly
  • Creating graphic representations of data and translating complex research into easily readable content for stakeholders and other departments
  • Preparing marketing proposals and presentations based on company needs
  • Measuring consumer satisfaction with products or services
  • Monitoring the company's social media platforms, recommending outreach tactics, as needed

Work Hours & Benefits


Flexible hours and work schedules (hybrid) are available within the work week of Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Internship opportunities are available throughout the summer and fall semesters. You will be working primarily with an assigned Mentor and will benefit from a 1:1 mentor to mentee/intern ratio.

Intern Qualifications / Skills (examples): Social-media, content creation, use of remote tools. [Intern is familiar with: PowerPoint, Excel, Data Visualization tools, Microsoft Suite, Teams, Webex, Zoom, Google Analytics]

Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:


  • Education and experience-Some college, preferred education and experience in: marketing, communications, and/or finance.
  • Must sign a Non –Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
  • Must pass a Background Check
  • Must pass a Drug and Alcohol test
