Communications Facilitated Internship

Internship Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic communications intern to join our PNM Corporate Communications department and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will have administrative duties in developing and implementing a social media campaign along with work on communication strategies. As a Communications intern, you will collaborate with our Corporate Communications team in all stages of creative development and execution of a social media campaign while also providing research and writing support. Your insightful contribution will help enhance and maintain our brand reputation. This internship will help you acquire communications skills. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in communications and should be prepared to enter any fast paced work environment.


Intern Job Responsibilities:

  • Creating a social media campaign that spotlights PNM’s vision to create a clean and bright energy future, could include an Earth Day campaign
  • Developing a strategy to champion PNM employees externally, through social media, press releases and engagement, or other communication tools
  • Creating graphic representations of complex data into easily understood content for stakeholders and other departments
  • Identify, research, and write press releases or internal stories that reflect the Company’s core values of integrity, safety and caring
  • Serve as a key team member in helping implement various events, media outreach, writing and researching
  • Support the team in measuring media sentiment and engagement
  • Monitoring and managing the company's social media platforms, adjusting outreach tactics as needed


Work Hours & Benefits

Flexible hours are available within the work week of Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Internship opportunities are available throughout the summer and fall semesters. You will be working primarily with an assigned Mentor and will benefit from a 1:1 mentor to mentee/intern ratio.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Organizational and project management abilities
  • Go getter who can work individually and within a team
  • Adherence to confidentiality and privacy of all employees

Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:

  • Preference given to Communications, Marketing, Journalism, and English majors, but welcome others interested in the exciting world of corporate communications
  • Must sign a Non –Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
  • Must have a Background Check
  • Must have a Drug and Alcohol test
