Accountant

Deseret Cattle & Timber is seeking a proactive and results-driven Accountant to work in detail with the production and finance team in developing and overseeing the measurements associated with short, medium, and long-term strategic plans. As a key contributor of information to the Management Team, the Accountant keeps local leadership apprised of the financial status of the operations. 

 

Responsibilities:
 

·Assist in the oversight of the onsite accounting, finance and database activities.

·Assist in setting up and enforcing internal controls in accordance with local, company policies and industry best practices to ensure the protection of company assets.

·Oversee the performance of basic monthly, crop year and annual accounting for the assigned stewardships.

·Help with reconciliations, budget preparations, operating forecasts, cash flow analysis, and tracking of capital expenditures.

·Perform accurate and timely monthly closing ensuring all transactions are processed and subsystems are ready for close: AP, AR, Billing, Inventory, Fixed Assets, journal entries, allocations, and subsequent report compilation.

·Aid in the supervision and training of remote clerical staff.

·Support, standardize, and simplify business processes and implementing finance initiatives.

·Assist in the preparation and submission of any important tax related information to the corporate tax department.

·Serve as a finance representative on special projects.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree.

·2+ years’ experience in accounting as well as compiling and analyzing data and preparing reports. 

·Strong knowledge of the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

·Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite with excellent knowledge of Excel.

·High competency and aptitude with software packages, including accounting software, reporting tools, relational databases, and word processing.

·Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·Demonstrated team player with a strong work ethic.

·Bilingual Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus.

·Farming or Ag background helpful but not required.
