Accounting Support

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Accounting Support person for their Accounting Department. The right candidate will be responsible for helping with account analysis and account bookings.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Support the Land Funding Manager in the execution of their responsibilities including division interaction, data entry, transaction posting, initial account analysis and reconciliation. Responsible for processing wire transfer activity including incoming and/or outgoing wire transfers. Prepare the corresponding journal entries for the wire transfers in the accounting system. Prepare the journal entry to record the inventory related to the wire transfer. Perform other projects as assigned to assist in the tracking and/or processes related to land funding. Use various tools for transactional processing inclusive of JDE (AS400, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Internet and Outlook). Support the department with administrative duties.

Education and/or Experience
Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A college degree is preferred. Preferred skills/experience:
  • Experience with wire transfers and data entry
  • Well-developed clerical and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of banking operations
  • Ability to collect and organize information
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Experience with preparing, posting and correcting journal entries
  • Ability to analyze transactions and resolve outages
  • Basic accounting knowledge; more advanced knowledge preferred
  • Basic Excel spreadsheet skills but more advanced skills preferred
  • Ability to review contracts and identify and interpret key contractual information
  • Escrow and/or homebuilding experience a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and email correspondence. 
 
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and complex situations.
