Technical Support Specialist

About Information Technology at the San Joaquin County Office of Education

Under a joint power authority agreement, San Joaquin County Office of Education provides Internet services and technology support to Banta Elementary, Escalon Unified, Jefferson Elementary, Lammersville Elementary, Lincoln Unified, Linden Unified, Manteca Unified, New Hope Elementary, New Jerusalem Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Ripon Unified, and Tracy Unified School Districts.

Services provided include administrative software systems for payroll, finance, electronic transfer of information to and from financial institutions, county offices, State offices, and the Federal Government, a help desk call center, repair and support for 25,000 computers, software sales and installation, network services that provide high-speed Internet connections and web servers, e-mail for more than 4,000 teachers and staff, network wiring installation inside schools and connections to SJCOE, and training on computer hardware and software systems.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Technology Manager, performs a variety of tasks including operation and installation of Chromebook, Macintosh and Windows operating systems and mobile computing devices along with a variety of peripheral and network equipment; assists customers to determine cause and resolution of problems. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements / Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University with a concentration in computer-related technology and/or Business Administration; or equivalent experience in management information systems. Three years increasingly responsible experience with information systems including network, computing devices, maintenance and troubleshooting.
