Job Description and Duties
The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) is a legislatively mandated permitting and enforcement body, charged with overseeing flood project construction and public safety within the Central Valley floodways and levee systems, as well as with the review, adoption and implementation of the historic Central Valley Flood Protection Plan. The Board is currently recruiting for one full-time permanent Engineer Water Resources to serve in the Enforcement Section. These positions are classified as office and field positions. Most work will be performed in-office, but some site inspection will be required. Under the direction of a Senior Engineer, the team member is responsible for site inspection, background research, preparation of enforcement case documents, communication with property owners, reviewing plans and specifications submitted by applicants for encroachment permits and modifications to adopted plans of flood control. Work also includes reviewing and processing both Department of Water Resources (DWR) and U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) inspection results in-order-to support Local Maintaining Agencies (LMA) efforts to address inspection issues to remain eligible or regain eligibility in the federal Public Law (PL) 84-99 Rehabilitation Program. This position also requires the team member to periodically present findings and information to the Board at regularly scheduled public meetings. The team member will be assigned varying work based on the Board’s needs within the Board’s jurisdiction.
