Senior Project Manager - Insurance

Summary: 
The Senior Project Manager - Insurance is responsible for overseeing one or more projects within the company’s Enterprise Project Portfolio.  This person will provide overall leadership and management of assigned projects across the organization. 


The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading project teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more departments or business units. Manage resources, schedules, and budgets, as well as adhere to project governance and control guidelines as established by the PMO throughout the project life cycle. This also includes management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Key contributor to process improvement initiatives as they relate to improving project delivery.  


Develops detailed project plans and manages all implementation processes including resource allocation, progress tracking, change control process monitoring, testing, documentation, training, and on-time delivery within project constraints.

 
The Senior Project Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis. They verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost, and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the project charter. 


Responsibilities: 
• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support the Project Sponsor’s business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager also has overarching responsibility to identify and mitigate issues and risks, while also communicating same to stakeholder and senior leadership. 
• Work constructively with sponsors, business analysts, and stakeholders to define the scope of the project and determine staffing requirements. Monitor and communicate project status, including reporting results to managers and users. 
• Promote teamwork and a collaborative work environment. Effectively communicate project progress and expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.   
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project status and secure customer feedback. Manage expectations; ensure that reports, estimates and status are accurate and appropriately detailed, and that projects receive the appropriate level of priority. 
• Oversee, develop, and maintain project plans and leverage project management tools to monitor tasks and resource assignments. Stay aware of current project management trends and improvements within the industry. 
• Develop and establish objective measures and provide constructive input to the performance measures used within the project management lifecycle. Develop standards and procedures; train other project managers to adapt to these standards and procedures. 
• Maintain a positive employee relations climate. Foster a culture of achievement within a results-oriented work environment. Assist in the recruitment and selection of prospective team members, as well as onboarding and incorporation of new people into the organization. Manage issues and problems in a constructive and professional manner. 
• Autonomously take on complex and large projects in terms scope, dependencies, risks, and impact to the organization.  
• Contribute to annual strategic planning process by engaging business partners and documenting effort, cost, and value of proposed initiatives. 
• Additional senior level responsibilities include: making recommendations to improve project management practices, implementing project management process improvements, and training project managers on project management best practices. 


Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or comparable 
• Project Management Certificate – PMP, PRINCE2, or similar 
• Agile Certification – CSM, ACP, or similar 
• 5+ years leading programs or projects of at least $2mm annually, preferably within the Insurance Industry 
• Advanced knowledge in Project Management/Leadership 
• Experience with a variety of methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
