Loan Accounting & Operations Specialist at AgTrust Farm Credit

AgTrust Farm Credit is seeking a full-time Loan Accounting & Operations Specialist.  You will be responsible for post-closing documentation and loan accounting system review to ensure closed loans were properly executed and for loan accounting maintenance of all customer loans in the system. You will respond to loan modification requests and book all modifications into the system. You will assist with customer service inquiries and complex problems.

Day-to-day Duties:

  • Performs loan system input of all maintenance to existing loans.
  • Processes all loan participation accounting entries.
  • Provides timely and accurate responses for servicing and modification requests; may require review of source documents, required approvals, and interaction with branch staff.
  • Works with Manager of Loan Closing Process; obtains documents, background information, and answers to questions.
  • Provides support/information (emails, phone calls) to: Loan Officers, Loan Admins, Loan Operations, Accounting, and others as needed.
  • Processes email requests for corrections or information.
  • Works with complex loans and performs research on borrower and/or collateral history.
  • Suggests and implements new and improved procedures.
  • Supports the efforts of the records retention function and assists with scanning an organization of documentation to be retained.
  • Compliance with FCBT and Association technology and security standards is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in loan documentation and loan accounting.
  • Specialized knowledge of terminology related to legal descriptions and documentation of real property.
  • Ability to stay up to date on new regulatory changes for all lending.
  • Specialized knowledge of title commitments/policies and underwriting standards related to title examination.
  • Specialized knowledge of association bylaws, policies, and procedures. 
  • General knowledge of accounting/financial systems. 
  • General knowledge of accounting/finance principles. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) required.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines, with the ability to adapt within a changing environment.
  • Customer service experience and skill with a commitment to providing outstanding client service.
  • Ability to lead a team and to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.
  • Must be able to work with sensitive and confidential material with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers/scan.
  • Intermediate software skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ability to learn new software systems.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record, valid, driver’s license, vehicle insurance and a reliable vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics or a related field or equivalent experience.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are normally during the business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  
  • Flexibility in hours is allowed and changes must be pre-approved by management.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • This position has repetitive hand and arm motions and prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • This position requires frequent manual dexterity in combination with eye/hand coordination such as using a keyboard/typing and handling of equipment.
  • Prolonged exposure to a computer screen.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
  • Must be able to travel (15%) within the region.
