Records Technician (Part-Time)

Join the City of South Jordan as a Part-Time Records Technician!
Are you detail-oriented and committed to providing excellent customer service? The City of South Jordan Police Department's Records Division is seeking a Part-Time Records Technician to support our team in processing, maintaining, and disseminating police records. This 16-hour-per-week role follows a set schedule-Monday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm-and is open until June 6, 2025.

What You'll Do:
✔ Greet and assist members of the public in person and over the phone, directing inquiries to the proper division or resource.
✔ Process, type, file, and maintain confidential police reports, citations, and records, ensuring accurate classification and secure handling. 
✔ Locate and reproduce records for officers, insurance companies, attorneys, and other authorized parties.
✔ Perform record-tracking tasks, including driver's license and vehicle registration verifications, criminal history checks, warrant confirmations, stolen property inquiries, and NCIC system updates.
✔ Prepare and complete forms, memos, letters, schedules, and other documentation as needed.
✔ Participate in training and professional meetings to stay current on NCIC procedures, record-management best practices, and legal requirements.

Who You Are:
🔹 High school diploma or GED required; two years of clerical or administrative experience involving public contact, filing, and cashiering-preferably in a law enforcement environment. 
🔹 Valid Utah Class D Driver License.
🔹 BCI Certification obtained within six months of hire and completion of eight hours of NCIC training annually.
🔹 Proficiency (within one year) in at least six of the following: NCIC entry/updates, validations, expungements, South Jordan City screenings, alarm program, TAC coordination, fingerprinting, record dissemination, and background checks.
🔹 Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
🔹 Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise good judgment under pressure, and meet established performance standards.
